Self Publishing - Who is Your Book for?

horizontal rule

There is little point in publishing a book that no one will read; it must be of interest to someone. In the main, self publishers stick to subject matter that is:

bulletof local interest
bulletof interest to a specific group of people
bulletpractical (how to... ') or advice-giving (how to deal with ...')

Large publishers tend to avoid the first two categories as the market is too limited and therefore of little interest financially. Which leaves the door open for you.

What about novels and poetry?

If you have had a novel or book of poetry rejected by a publisher, it may be unwise to try and publish it yourself unless making money from it is not your
main objective. However, if the theme of your novel
or poetry is of interest locally or to a specialist group, then it will have more chance of success.
